I Am a Pilgrim

12. I Am a Pilgrim (Traditional)

This is another of those songs that I was taught by my brothers, Mike and Bill. It goes way back. There is a version by the Golden Gate Quartet from the 40’s that is wonderful, Merle Travis had a big hit with it back in the late 40’s or early 50’s, and the Byrds put it on their “Sweet Heart of the Rodeo” album. I have not heard anyone else do it with a back beat. The incomparable Lewis Ross takes the mandolin break, and joins me on the guitar for a duet in the second half of the guitar break.

Mo Mack: voice, rhythm guitar, guitar solo & background vocals; Lewis Ross: guitars, mandolins, tenor guitars & harmony; Brian Davis: drums; Chuck Jacobs: bass
